Lemon Rice (South Indian Style)

🍋 Lemon Rice (South Indian Style)

A simple, flavorful, and tangy rice dish that’s quick to prepare and perfect for lunch boxes.


🛒 Ingredients:



  • 2 cups cooked rice (cooled)

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp urad dal (split black gram)

  • 1 tbsp chana dal (optional)

  • 8–10 curry leaves

  • 2 dried red chilies

  • 2 green chilies (slit)

  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder

  • 2 tbsp peanuts

  • Juice of 1–2 lemons

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander (optional)


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan.

  2. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

  3. Add urad dal, chana dal, and peanuts. Fry until golden.

  4. Add curry leaves, dried red chilies, and green chilies. Sauté briefly.

  5. Add turmeric powder and mix.

  6. Turn off the flame and let it cool slightly.

  7. Add cooked rice and salt. Mix gently.

  8. Add fresh lemon juice and mix well.

  9. Garnish with coriander if desired.


🍽️ Serving Suggestion:

Serve with coconut chutney, pickle, or plain yogurt.
